Orange tree full of ripe fruit

From Ribera. Not from the wholesale market.

There is no middleman between you and the tree. After harvest the fruit goes straight into the box, with no intermediate storage.

Stephanie Sicurella built up the Prodotti Italiani brand in Saarland and worked for more than eight years in international key account management. Today she lives in Sicily again and looks after harvest, selection and shipping herself. She knows the farmers personally and knows what a buyer in Germany needs.

The link to Saarland has remained: we still support the canteen of a day-care centre there with donations of goods.

Vanilla orange with pale peel on the branch

The speciality from Ribera

The vanilla orange.

The Vaniglia Apireno has hardly any acidity. That is why it tastes mild and sweet. It also contains less fructose than other orange varieties.

Without fructose?

You often read that, but it is not true. Every ripe fruit contains fructose, but the vanilla orange contains less than other orange varieties. It tastes so sweet because it lacks acidity.

Olive oil

Cold-extracted, right in the village.

Freshly harvested green and purple olives with leaves in a crate
Fresh, green-gold olive oil runs into a container in the mill

A blend of Biancolilla and Nocellara, the olive varieties of the area. Top category, acidity below 0.2 %, cold-extracted at no more than 27 °C.

The olives are harvested by hand and cold-extracted right in the village, without long transport. After washing they are crushed mechanically and stirred in closed stainless-steel mixers at no more than 27 °C. A decanter centrifuge then separates the oil from the fruit water and pomace by centrifugal force alone. And if a bird’s nest sits in the tree at harvest, it is carefully moved.

Frequently asked questions

Before you enquire.

Is there a minimum order?

No. You can start with a small order and check quality and delivery at your leisure. You do not need a supply contract for that.

Can I order oranges and olive oil together?

Yes. On the Sicily pallet we combine citrus fruit and olive oil. You do not need a full load of a single variety.

Where do you deliver?

To all of Europe. A parcel usually arrives in 5 to 6 working days. We only harvest and pack a pallet after your order and ship it without storage. In peak season a truck runs every week. The exact transit time is stated in the offer.

Is the fruit unsprayed and untreated?

Yes. The fruit is unsprayed and is not chemically treated after harvest either. The peel is suitable for eating, and you can also use it for baking and cooking.

Is the vanilla orange free of fructose?

No, this is often claimed but is not true. Every ripe fruit contains fructose, but the vanilla orange contains less than other orange varieties. It has hardly any acidity and therefore tastes especially mild.
